2001 Vacation photos from St. John, USVI. 71 photos total.
Nice pics.
Snorkeling at Trunk Bay is the best. One good thing to do is check when the cruise ships are going to be there and go somwhere else that day. The park rangers usually know the schedule.
Your photos of st john were very helpful...
my wife and I are heading to the Westin late
June early July 2003. I would greatly appreciate
any info you could give me on the rooms at the
Westin....is it worth the extra $$ for poolview
or oceanview?? where are the rooms with the
best views located??
Thanks,
Nate
I wouldn't book the Westin without getting an ocean view. Morning, noon and evening, the show beyond that big window is better than HBO on Sunday night. I suggest taking it in with a rum punch.
As for which rooms are better, it depends on how you plan to spend your days. I imagine the most popular buildings are down around the water, just a few flip-flops from the dive shop and restaurants and shore. If that’s where you’ll do most of your lounging, those are the rooms for you.
But we spend most of our time outside of the resort (better beaches, hiking, shopping), so we opt for a building back on the hill, closest to the entrance and front desk. This way, we have the shortest walk to the cab stand and back to the room. And we still get a great view.
I really enjoyed your pictures of Trunk Bay, and St. John. I was just there this time last year, and am really ready to head back! I'm planning another trip down there in Fall. I fell in love with St. John and all its beautiful beaches.
Thank you for all your excellent photos. We are planning on getting married on St. John Sept. 2003. Did you happen to check out the grounds and beaches at Caneel Bay? Did you enjoy your hikes and which one did you like best? Again, thanks for posting the photos. I can't wait to experience the beauty firsthand.
Great photos. What kind of camera? And why did you refer to the donkey as "deadly"? I've been down many times but never heard anyone say that.

The Park Service runs a very nice guided hike down the Reef Bay trail, which descends 900 feet from the trail head to the beach at Reef Bay, past the petroglyphs and an old sugar mill. The nice thing about the Park Service hike is that they have a boat waiting to take you back to Cruz Bay, so you can walk down the trail, but you don't have to walk back up! There is a charge for this hike, and you must reserve your spots ahead of time.
I'd also recommend the Lind Point trail, and the NPS-guided walk along the Leinster Bay trail.
Don't really know much about Caneel Bay resort, but I've hard others say good things.
Congratulations, and have a great time!
Nice pics. Thanks.
Great site and lovely pics!
Keep up the great work!

Just returned from St.John's. Snorkled trunk bay with the wife and kids. What a blast, beautiful place. (Forget about skipping the days when Cruise ships are in town get there as often as you can.) (As per a previous post) Great pic's on this site. I'm also from Delaware and have been going to Rehoboth since I was a kid. Rehoboth, Dewey and Lewes great beaches for the Mid Atlantic region
